Darby Wind Cave

 Darby wind caves

The Darby wind caves are a great hike to do on a Saturday afternoon. These caves are located about an hour out of Rexburg. The hike is a longer hike and it is about a 6-mile hike round trip. It takes most people around 4 hours to complete.

When you start the hike, it is a nice walk through the woods. The hike slowly starts to incline and gets harder throughout the hike. This hike is beautiful and overlooks the valley.  About halfway through the hike, you can spot the wind cave from a few miles away. There are some rocky sections on the hike and at the end of the hike, you will reach switchbacks.

The most rewarding part of the hike is that you reach a waterfall at the end. At the end of the hike, there is a cool cave you can climb in and explore. The cave is dark and gets tinier and tinier as you explore. Makes sure to be careful, the cave can be a little slippery.

This hike is the perfect thing to do on a Saturday afternoon. It is a great place to pack a lunch and have a picnic. When you are driving to the trailhead, you will reach a 3-mile dirt road. If you are planning on going on the hike, pay attention to the weather and pick the perfect day to go.

If you would like to do this hike, it is important to wear hiking shoes, pack a sweatshirt, a water bottle and have bear spray on you. There are animals around such as bears, snacks, lizards, and deer. It is important to travel in big groups while hiking to be extra safe!

The hike can be done in the snow or in the summer. There are beautiful colors during the fall, and snow in the colder months. The summer would be the perfect time to do the hike because it is warmer out. The best part is you can bring your dog.

Not only is hiking great exercise, but it also helps improve your balance, strengthen your core, improve blood pressure, and strengthen muscles.

Hiking allows you to relieve stress, explore the outdoors, and spend time with people. If you are looking for a hike with great scenery, the Darby Wind caves are one of the most beautiful hikes. There is plenty of beautiful colors, nature, and lots to look at. Don't forget to bring your camera!
